Free-Motion give you the freedom to quilt a design over an entire quilt or fill background spaces. From flowers, leaves, to geometric designs and pebbles learn to designs. Each student will enjoy a class workbook with free-motion designs used in class. 
Supplies needed:  small thread clippers, pen or pencil for notes and notebook

Blades: (60) 2.5" x 6" rectangles for each blade (20 for each plate). 
You will probably have time to make 2 plates, and you can make just one
if you wish).
Center Circle: (3) 4" squares.
Binding: (4) 2.5" strips  (we will not be doing the quilting or binding
in class)

Scarecrow Charlie Penny Mat

Finished Size(s): Approximately 14-15”

Description of Class: Scare the crows away so your pumpkins will blossom and grow!  This adorable penny mat measures about 14 ½” round with scalloped edges.  Grow your garden of pumpkins using various plaids and solids.  Learn how to embellish your pumpkins and scarecrows by learning the stem, whip, and blanket stitches.  This project is all hand stitched with wool appliqué.

Fabric Requirements: A kit is not required for this class, but highly suggested.  It has all the materials to finish this penny mat including various orange fabrics to choose from for your pumpkins, and plaid for your scarecrow hat.

If not purchasing the kit here are the wool requirements:

14” x 14” black; 15” x 15” dark orange; 8” x 10” dark orange for pumpkins; 4” x 5” orange plaids;

 3” x 6” orange plaids; 3” x 3” green; 3” x 3” green plaid; 2” x 3” brown; 4” x 5” blue green; 4” x 4” blue; 2” x 2” flesh; 1” x 1” red; 2” x 4” plaid for hats.

 

Supplies needed: (not already in the Basic Sewing Kit description) : Embroidery needle, appliqué pins are suggested, but regular pins are okay, threads to match project, freezer paper; double sided fusible such as Soft Fuse is optional to those students who wish to use it for securing their pieces before stitching into place. I will small quantities of freezer paper and double sided fusing for students to try them out.

Heavier thread will be needed for some of the embroidery, but two pieces of floss work okay for this as well.

Bring an Iron and table side ironing board if you have it.

Gourds in the Garden

Description of Class: Gourds in the Garden is a trio of all things autumn.  We will discuss the techniques used in wool appliqué, like cutting, securing your project for stitching, and embellishing with the stem, whip, fly, and blanket stitches. This project has small pieces and is all hand stitched with wool appliqué.

Fabric Requirements: A kit is not required for this class, but highly suggested.  It has all the materials to finish this wall hanging including various orange fabrics for your pumpkins and freezer paper.
